Red Lion Hotel

The Red Lion Hotel sits astride the ancient harbour quay in the enchanting Clovelly village of timeless beauty.

The Red Lion Hotel stands on the quay alongside Clovelly’s ancient harbour. Rich in nautical atmosphere and beautifully furnished, it has become deservedly popular for North Devon holidays and seasonal short breaks.

The building dates back to the 18th century, and was created from three cider houses where Clovelly fishermen gathered to swap their tales of fabulous catches and perilous seas. The Red Lion was the birthplace of the sailor Salvation Yeo, a character in Charles Kingsley’s classic West Country novel "Westward Ho!".

Each of its 11 ensuite rooms, decorated in a nautical theme, enjoys either a spectacular sea or harbour view.  The Sail Loft, adjacent to the Red Lion, provides a further 6 de-luxe stylish bedrooms with wonderful sea views.  The effect of both is a perfect maritime experience.
