Quince Honey Farm

Quince Honey Farm is a family run business which has been producing quality honey since 1949. Our 1500 hives are kept deep in the North Devon Countryside amongst the wild flowers from which the bees collect their sweet nectar. Every August, when Exmoor turns purple, all of the hives are moved up to the moors to collect the exquisite Exmoor Heather Honey. This delicious honey can be purchased from our website or at our shop.

Beeworld is Quince Honey Farm’s renowned exhibition of honeybees. Nowhere else in the world can visitors get such an up close view of the inner workings of the honeybee society without needing protective equipment. 18 observation hives are on display, many of which can be opened by you the visitor. Beeworld contains a wealth of information about honeybees and man’s obsession with them for the last 10,000 years.

New displays are added every year; recent additions include ‘A year in the life of the beekeeper’, ‘The life of the bee’, ‘Honeybee Communication’ and ‘The history of Beekeeping’. We are currently making ‘The British Bee Museum’ a collection of historical beekeeping artefacts, with a demonstration area for events throughout the season, please see website for details of events.

2011 saw the introduction of The Happy Bee Playhive. A new building containing an indoor soft play area and some colonies of leaf cutting ants! Children can play to their hearts’ content while parents enjoy a nice cuppa and a Devonshire cream tea from the Café, and watch the Ants go about their business. New for 2012 are two colonies of Weaver Ants, these clever little creatures stick together leaves to make their nests.

No visit to Quince Honey Farm is complete without a visit to the Shop. A chance to take home a pot of delicious honey from some of the bees you’ve seen at hard at work, and best of all you are encouraged to take advantage of the free honey tastings. If you’re feeling really naughty treat yourself to some award winning Devon honey ice cream.

If you want somewhere fun with the added bonus of learning something for yourselves and educating the kids then Quince Honey Farm is the place for you!
