North Devon+ congratulates four of its members for their success at the North Devon Journal Business Awards last night. Thursday 13th October. 

The awards are celebration of  excellence, innovation and commitment to customer service.  Almost 200 nominations were received across the categories.

Atlantic Village won the Environmental Award. Environmental management is a focused discipline and Atlantic Village Centre Manager Jane Mcleod along with her Deputy Manager Paul Naisbett and Centre Administrator Jean Sharples are all committed to delivering and exceeding client expectations.

Tunnels Beaches won Best Tourism/Hospitality Award. Tunnels beaches is Ilfracombe's Blue Flag beach and most popular historic tourist attraction. Welsh miners hand carved tunnels through the hillside in 1823 to gain access to the secluded coves beyond. Jamie and Zoe McLintock have been redeveloping the site for 10 years, upgrading facilities, adding a stylish bar and childrens soft play area, as well as adding informative interpretation panels.

Employee of the Year was presented to Claire Payne of The BIG Sheep.  Claire started working at the BIG Sheep when she was 14. She currently works as marketing and communications assistant and also oversees the reception team. Clair has a fun, loyal, dynamic and creative approach to every job she does. She is one of the most popular members of the team.

Boss of the year Rick Turner, also hails from The Big Sheep. Director of the Flock Rick leads by motivating inspiring and encouraging every member of his team. He believes that everyone should have fun at work, and empowers the team to take decisions which he will always support.

Exmoor Zoo won Family Business of the Year. Cared for by three generations of the same family, Exmoor Zoo is an integral part of the North Devon community where everyone can encounter, interact and learn about worldwide animal conservation.  Exmoor Zoo also scooped the prestigious North Devon Business of the Year.

Laura Holt of North Devon+ said. "We are extremely pleased for these exemplar businesses.  They are testament to the outstanding quality and commitment of the North Devon Tourism industry."
