Sculpture Exhibition at Broomhill North Devon
31/05/2011

10 Sculptors, 1 Exhibition,
who wins - you decide
For adventure, intrigue and certainly the unexpected, a must visit this Summer is the NSP Exhibition at Broomhill Sculpture Park, near Barnstaple in North Devon. Ten UK based sculptors selected by a top judging panel have been thrust together in a bid to win the 2011 NSP title.
Ten short-listed sculptors were carefully selected by a judging panel comprising internationally acclaimed artists Tim Shaw, Rob Ryan and Carol Peace, (plus Broomhill owners Rinus & Aniet van de Sande) at the beginning of this year.
Each of the ten finalists were given a £1,000 budget and 3 months to turn their proposed idea into an inspiring finished piece for the Exhibition.
"We're thrilled with how this year's exhibition has come together, the ten sculptors each have a very different approach, the combination of quality, imagination and variety elevates this exhibition above anything we've done before. If you're anything like me you'll be romanced, shocked, in awe, curious...it's inspiring not to mention full of surprises! Many thanks to our sponsors for their support in making this possible." Quote - Rinus van de Sande (owner of Broomhill)
This new, annual event is a distinctive addition to the national art calendar, not only as it promotes contemporary sculpture, but, as a unique twist, the public are given the vote to select their favourite. Visitors should be prepared to have their art critic hats on this Summer as Broomhill will be asking them to choose a winner! Two overall winners (to receive cash prizes) will be announced in October 2011, one chosen by the panel of judges and the other by the public. You can vote for your favourite sculpture at Broomhill and online here until October 2011.
"We want our visitors to get involved with this exhibition, to have their opinion voiced. Enabling them to collectively choose a winner has had a great response with all ages, from schools and families to garden groups and art enthusiasts, it's a fun, interactive addition that really works." Quote - Rinus van de Sande
The final ten sculptures are now on display at Broomhill until 2012.
