Explore Lynton & Lynmouth

The beautiful twin coastal towns of Lynton and Lynmouth, also known as England's 'Little Switzerland' are situated on the northern edge of the West Country peninsula

Nestled amongst heather topped hills, these little villages have grown slowly around deep wooded river valleys in Exmoor. They have been a firm favourite holiday destination since Victorian times, and it was the Victorians who opened the innovative water operated cliff railway in 1890 creating some spectacular views and connecting the two towns.

As described by Thomas Gainsborough, who honeymooned there, Lynmouth is; "the most delightful place for a landscape painter this country can boast", and it's fair to say Lynton shares that honour. Although, with their pretty town centres, beautiful ocean views and magnificent countryside 'delightful' may be a slightly understated description!

If you want to explore more of these beautiful areas then why not take a look at the fantastic range of accommodation on offer and make a holiday out of your visit, there is plenty to enjoy for everyone, from beautiful coastal cliff walks to a relaxing stroll around the pretty town centres.

You can choose from a luxury hotels to a cosy B&B's or stunning self catering holiday cottages, Lynton and Lynmouth has something to suit every taste and budget.
