The Manor is just five minutes’ drive from the golden sands of Putsborough beach and the village of Georgeham with its quaint pubs, village shop and Post Office. If you prefer to get out into the wild, there is a scenic 20- minute walk down through fields to the beach.

The property has been thoughtfully divided into eight apartments which retain the building’s historic features at the same time as offering beautiful and well-equipped holiday accommodation.

The gardens at Pickwell Manor are truly magical. In front of the south-facing house, the sun terrace leads down to the Italian Garden, surrounded by many mature shrubs, flowers, and rose arches which have been well tended over the years.

Garden

This garden offers amazing countryside views and you can see the sea to the west, less than half a mile away with Baggy Point, Hartland Point, and Lundy Island beyond. The tennis court is next to the Italian Garden, offering all this as a backdrop to you backhand!

To the rear of the house, stone steps lead up to a walled garden with a large grassed area and orchard. To the east and west of the house are woodland areas with gently meandering paths – great for children to explore and play.

Located in the far south-east corner of the garden, there is a magnificent spot with a decked area ideal for barbequing in the evening and enjoying the views. The gardens are quiet enough to hear all the sounds of the Pickwell Manor birds and wildlife.

You can find plenty of benches around the gardens, offering the ideal place to stop and take in the beauty of the location, the house, gardens and surrounding views. The gardens are one of the most special things about Pickwell Manor.

Facilities

Pickwell Manor offers endless opportunities for exploration and discovery without ever having to leave the grounds. For the children, it’s a chance to live like real Swallows and Amazons (although a little more civilised). We have even been named the best alternative to Centre Parcs by The Guardian and our laundry room features in the Wall Street Journal's Year In Photos 2014. Well, it is a stunning view!

We have a woodland trail complete with forest basketball and musical instruments, treasure hunt, camp-building kits, special outdoor ‘spotter’ packs, and pirate-flag making kits all ready for you to hoist up the flagpole on the mini pirate island!

There is also a

• Packed games room

• Wendy house and sandpit

• Tennis court

• Basketball hoop

• Giant chess set

• Croquet

Throughout the summer holidays we offer a weekly cream tea to our guests as well as a craft session. And did we mention the beach? Well, it’s just a brisk walk through the fields, or five minutes by car.

On a practical note, there is a laundry room, wetsuit rinsing, and surf and bike store.
