Great Torrington Pannier Market
Great Torrington Pannier Market was built in 1842 but the building gradually deteriorated and in 1948 the complete roof was removed. October 1999 saw the whole building being refurbished and redeveloped.
This refurbishment was part of the Genesis Project, co-ordinated by the great Torrington and District Community Development Trust which now manages the whole building and was funded by Torridge District Council, the Rural Development Commission, English Partnerships, Manifold Trust and the European Rural Development Fund
There are 12 retail units/craft workshops and a cafe which are open Monday to Saturday from 10.00 am to 4.00 pm and Market Hall contains the weekly General Market stalls on Thursdays and Saturdays. With a bric-a-brac and collectables Market on Fridays.
