LIST Invest In Nature

Local Inspection Scheme for Tourism

LIST is the new name for the long standing inspection scheme run by North Devon+ formally known as Stepping Stones. Many accommodation providers want to give visitors the security of knowing their property has been independently inspected but wish to be inspected through a local scheme. The LIST inspection scheme is an annual inspection and confirms the property is operating to a legal, safe and clean standard. Properties inspected through the scheme can be identified by the LIST logo. The inspectors are experienced and successful tourism operators from the region who have been chosen for their expertise and knowledge in running serviced and self catering businesses locally. That knowledge enables them to understand the realities of running a tourism business and also the needs and requirements of visitors with the ability to offer suggestions to help businesses. The inspectors work to a check list looking for cleanliness, comfort and all the basic requirements for a minimum standard. Each property is considered on its own merits and the age specific issues of the property will be considered. The inspectors will advise immediately of any requirements or suggestions. They will also look at evidence of legal compliance. The inspections are friendly and advisory and are there to support businesses which will in turn make the visitors stay more enjoyable.
