Mortehoe Beach (Rockham)
A small secluded bay with good rock pools is a good way to describe Mortehoe.
A small secluded bay with good rock pools is a good way to describe Mortehoe. The sandy rocky beach comprises of the perfect combination for some fabulous hidden rock pools teaming with creatures waiting to be discovered. The beach is dog friendly meaning four legged friends are allowed all year round. Access is by foot only however with car parking available in Mortehoe but with coastal walks that offer such breathtaking scenery exploring it by car will be the last thing on your mind. The walk to Rockham bay itself is not too strenuous as there are three flights of steep steps to reach the beach itself but it is still a 2km walk. However as you proceed carefully down you are rewarded with clumps of lovely wild flowers growing on the cliffs. High tide is not the ideal time to visit as access is restricted but at all other times there is much to explore - plenty of rock pools many quite deep interesting rock formations and plenty of sand for children to play on.
